The History of Radio Thamesmead

Thamesmead was one of the first places in the country to receive a license for a community radio station in 1978. Broadcasting on a localised cable radio system from a studio from a cupboard in a local church before moving to Tavy Bridge. The content of the station was distinctly made for, and by, Thamesmead.

This 2018 documentary explores the history of community radio in Thamesmead through interviews with five people who participated in the local station during it's 30+ year history: Val and Phil Weedon, Ken Murray, Adrian Gogerly, and Nick Paraskou.

Sonic Études

A selection of creative audio studies, exercises and assignments from In The Dark and Sarah Geis’s Audio Playground.

New uploads every week; I’m not looking for perfection in this playlist. Instead, Sonic Études aims to remove the trepidation of sharing work/works-in-progress and encourage regular creations in sound!

Commissioned by London Transport Museum to explore the life, community and sense of place around two areas soon to be drastically changed by the arrival of Crossrail or ‘The Elizabeth Line’.

It was a pleasure to spend a day in Thamesmead with Lucia and Deborah Frimpong recording tape for this interesting project.

Produced by Lucia Scazzocchio.
